About Us

Just Because It’s Junk, It Doesn’t Mean It’s Garbage!

Our Mission: To Provide Residents In The Ottawa Carleton region with The Most Affordable, Reliable, and Environmentally Accountable Junk Removal and Electronic Waste Services.

We are Ottawa’s leading e-waste collector and are known for our free E-waste drop-off events. From our almost 40 recycling events last year we recycled 450 000 lbs of electronic waste. Our events run from March until November. We’ve collected over 1 million pounds of E-waste in the Ottawa-Carleton region in the last three years (2016, 2017, and 2018) from these community events.

Junk That Funk was founded in 2007 and services the greater Ottawa Carleton region , including Gatineau, Hull, Cumberland, Rockland, Bourget and Stittsville. We are a proud owner operated business in Ottawa, are not a franchise or service chain, and have laid roots in our national capital community for over 10 years. We are licensed by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change as a fully insured junk removal company servicing residential, industrial, and commercial customers for junk, rubbish, and E-Waste removal. We pick up over 80 tons a month of mixed waste.

Community is something important to us. Since 2009, we’ve taken part in the City of Ottawa’s “Take It Back Program”, a local initiative that offers Ottawa’s residents a convenient option to dispose of specialty items that are no longer wanted or needed.

Since 2015, we’ve also been working with the registered charity, Their Opportunity, who provide low-income families with the means to enroll their children in local sports programs. Since our partnership we have raised thousands of dollars and have helped out a hand full of kids get involved in sports.

Since 2016 we have had the pleasure of working along side Riley Brockington and his Earth Day Celebration at the Hunt Club – Riverside Park Community Centre. We are set up for the day in the parking lot accepting E-waste from local residents. Join us this year for the event on April 13th, 2019. Throughout the day they will be having a park clean-up, a BBQ, an environmental trade show and guided walk through McCarthy Woods! Dress weather appropriate as we are going to be having the event, rain or shine.
