E-Waste Roundup Coming Up on October 12th, 2013!Hey Folks,
We are excited to announce that Junk That Funk, Ottawa's premier junk removal service, is hosting another E-Waste Roundup! This is a fantastic opportunity for residents to responsibly dispose of their electronic waste and help our community stay green.
Event Details
When: Saturday, October 12th, 2013 Time: 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Where to Drop Off Your E-Waste
The E-Waste Roundup will be held at Walter Baker Park, located in the parking lot at Maple Grove, Ottawa, Ontario. You can find the exact location on the map linked above. This community event is open to everyone, and we encourage you to spread the word!
The Importance of E-Waste Recycling
Many people are unaware that certain electronic items won't be picked up by the city during curbside garbage collection. Items like old televisions, computer monitors, laptops, copiers, and fax machines can’t just be placed on the curb; they need to be disposed of properly. In Ottawa alone, around 3000 tonnes of E-Waste is sent to landfills every year, equivalent to 300 garbage trucks full of electronics. This is not just bad for the environment but also a missed opportunity to recycle valuable materials.
What Can You Bring?
At this event, we will accept a wide range of electronic items including:
- Old computers and laptops
- Monitors
- Televisions
- Printers and copiers
- Fax machines
- Cell phones
- Any other electronic devices
We also welcome industrial, commercial, and institutional electronic waste, so if you have larger quantities or types of E-Waste, please bring it along!
Why is E-Waste Recycling Crucial?
Recycling electronic waste is essential for several reasons. First, it helps recover valuable materials that can be reused. Many components of electronics, such as metals and plastics, can be repurposed, reducing the need for new raw materials. Secondly, proper disposal prevents hazardous substances found in electronics from contaminating our environment. For more information on the importance of recycling, check out this resource.
