Join us for the 1st Blackburn Scouts E-Waste Fundraiser at Emily Carr Middle School. Help recycle your old electronics and support a great cause!

Are you looking to responsibly dispose of unwanted electronics? Do you have old computers, laptops, or DVD players taking up space in your home? Don't throw them away! Instead, bring them to the Emily Carr Middle School's parking lot for recycling. Your contributions will not only help you declutter, but the funds generated from recycling will support the Scouts program!

Why E-Waste Recycling Matters

Many residents are unaware that the city does not pick up certain items on garbage day. Items such as televisions, computer monitors, laptops, copiers, and fax machines are not collected curbside. Shockingly, about 3,000 tonnes of e-waste end up in Ottawa landfills each year, equivalent to 300 garbage trucks filled with electronic waste. This is a significant environmental issue.

Understanding E-Waste

Almost all consumer electronics can be reconstituted or repurposed in some way. This is crucial because e-waste contains valuable materials that can be recovered and reused, reducing the need for new raw materials and minimizing environmental impact. By recycling e-waste, we can contribute to a sustainable future.
