Since September 25th, Junk That Funk has embarked on a journey to enhance our environmental performance evaluation processes by following the UNEP/SETAC Life Cycle Initiative’s guidance. This initiative has provided us with key insights into how we can better serve our community while also being mindful of our environmental impact.

What is Environmental Performance Evaluation?

Environmental performance evaluation is a structured approach to assess and improve an organization’s environmental impact. It involves four distinct phases that guide us in our efforts towards sustainability:

Understanding these four phases is crucial for the effective implementation of an environmental performance evaluation. Here’s a breakdown:

1. Goal and Scope Phase

The first step in the evaluation process is the Goal and Scope Phase. This phase involves defining what we want to achieve with our environmental assessment and identifying the boundaries of the evaluation. It sets the foundation for the entire process.

2. Inventory Analysis Phase

Next, we move into the Inventory Analysis Phase. During this phase, we gather data on all the resources consumed and emissions produced by our operations. This step is essential to identify areas where we can reduce waste and improve efficiency.

3. Impact Assessment Phase

Following the inventory analysis, we conduct the Impact Assessment Phase. Here, we evaluate the potential environmental impacts associated with our activities. This helps us understand the significance of our findings and prioritize actions for improvement.

4. Interpretation Phase
